Benbria Profiled in the Ottawa Citizen

Benbria is one of the companies profiled in the Ottawa Citizen special "Getting the message out when it matters - Mass communication system notifies users in event of catastrophe".

...thousands of students, staff and faculty across the Carleton University campus may feel better protected this year.

After about a year of intensive research, the university selected BlazeCast, a cross-media mass notification and paging system developed by Benbria Corporation, as the brains behind its newly implemented Emergency Notification System. The ENS is designed to notify as many members of the campus community as possible about an impending danger such as an armed intruder, major storm, or other potentially catastrophic situation.

"We look upon this as a method of saving lives. The faster you can tell people to duck, the more likely they are to duck," stresses Len Boudreault, Carleton University's director of safety. "We went into this with about 10 to 15 points that we felt were really important. At the end of the day, we found that the flexibility of Benbria, both in their product and their developers, was the most attractive. They had what we needed, and were able to massage what they had to meet our requirements."
